Greetings to all! I am so excited about my new blog, featuring a number of fun volunteer opportunities around the valley! But before we get into that, you should know a little about the person supplying you with the information.
My name is Haley Madden and I am a sophomore at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication. My focus is broadcast journalism, but I am not closed off to any of the other options the school has for me, whether that be in print or public relations. My passions have always been writing, volleyball, cooking and, last but not least, community service. Growing up in Catholic school, volunteering in my community has always been a big part of my education. I have worked with more than 25 organizations like Special Olympics, Ronald McDonald House, Andre House and St. Mary’s Food Bank. The benefit that came with working with so many different charities was I was able to find what I am really passionate about, which is what gave me the idea for this blog.
I wanted to provide a blog that featured some of my favorite organizations along with providing you, the reader, some other great options in whatever area best interests you. Each post will delve into a different category of volunteer work, beginning with education-based work, then youth and family and finally, volunteer opportunities specific to homelessness I chose these three categories because I believe they will allow me to cover a lot of ground yet is still specifies to help you find what you may be interested in.
Whether you know community service is something you enjoy, you are required to volunteer for school, or you just want to learn more about what community service really is, I hope you take some time and look at my blog! Because of my extensive work, I have made a lot of really good contacts who will be helping me give you great information. Our passion for volunteering will be apparent in every post, picture and story.
Enjoy and I look forward to your feedback!
